How does a real estate agent get paid?

Did you know that when you are buying a home YOU (the buyer) doesn’t pay the REALTOR® at all? That is correct. The real estate agent gets paid by the seller in the transaction. When a seller decided to sell their home, they find a real estate agent to list it for them. One of the items they agree on is the commission the listing agent will receive. When a buyer comes along with their agent, if that buyer buys the home, the listing agent will split the commission earned with the buyer’s agent.
